DRACULA: ORIGIN SEDUCES IGN AND GAMESPOT!

While Dracula: Origin is just being released everywhere worldwide, IGN and Gamespot have published their very good reviews of the game, which scored an 8/10 (IGN) and 7/10 (Gamespot).

IGN’s eulogistic review of Dracula: Origin thanks the efforts made by Frogwares to create an adventure game which is not only beautiful, but also accessible to everyone, though quite challenging as the game offers “logical, challenging puzzles that will give you a sense of satisfaction when solved… it uses the old adventure format but with a few tweaks that make it accessible and easier for those who aren't familiar with the genre”. Gamespot was also convinced by the puzzles “that couldn't be any more imaginative, or more appropriate for this storyline”and their integration in the game as they “all are perfectly suited to a quest about slaying a vampire”.

IGN particularly thanks the fact that “the developers went back to the traditional third person view and made the controls much more user-friendly… It seems that this interface was carefully designed to alleviate any flaws that previous adventure titles had.” Besides the gameplay, both reviews positively comment the overall presentation and art direction. From the graphics, for which “the attention to detail is impressive” (IGN), to the music, which “compliments the scenes well, with eerie violins playing in the background along with chilly piano melodies” (IGN), everything fits in perfectly with the story. Also, “the animation isn't flawless, but a solid effort was put in to bring these characters to life” (IGN) and “voice acting is generally impressive” (Gamespot).

In the end, IGN quotes “Dracula: Origin is elegant piece of work visually, using well-known fictional characters and blending it into a fun and challenging adventure game”, while Gamespot says that the game is “a very enjoyable, if deeply traditional, adventure”.

“Good storytelling never goes out of style. For proof, check out Dracula: Origin, a point-and-click reimagination of Bram Stoker's classic novel from Frogwares that delivers a gothic tale as atmospheric and chilling as a London fog.”
(Gamespot).
