While Dracula: Origin is currently being released everywhere worldwide, IGN has just published their excellent review of the game, which scored an 8/10. According to them “Dracula: Origin is elegant piece of work visually, using well-known fictional characters and blending it into a fun and challenging adventure game”.
This eulogistic review of Dracula: Origin thanks the efforts made by Frogwares to create an adventure game which is not only beautiful, but also accessible to everyone, though quite challenging as the game offers “logical, challenging puzzles that will give you a sense of satisfaction when solved… it uses the old adventure format but with a few tweaks that make it accessible and easier for those who aren't familiar with the genre”.
IGN particularly thanks the fact that “the developers went back to the traditional third person view and made the controls much more user-friendly… It seems that this interface was carefully designed to alleviate any flaws that previous adventure titles had.”
Besides the gameplay, this review positively comments the overall presentation and art direction. From the graphics, for which “the attention to detail is impressive”, to the music, which “compliments the scenes well, with eerie violins playing in the background along with chilly piano melodies”, everything fits in perfectly with the story. Also, “a solid effort was put in the animations to bring these characters to life”.
In the end, “Dracula: Origin is elegant piece of work visually, using well-known fictional characters and blending it into a fun and challenging adventure game”. Read the full review on IGN
